Man Indicted For Failing to Update Sex Offender Registration

U.S. Attorney Brendan V. Johnson announced that a man has been indicted by a federal grand jury for failing to update his state sex offender registration as required by the Sex Offender Registration and Notification Act.

Russell Lewis Crazy Bull, age 42, was indicted by a federal grand jury on February 15, 2011, for Failure to Register. He appeared before U.S. Magistrate Judge Veronica L. Duffy on March 9, 2011, and pled not guilty to the indictment. The maximum penalty upon conviction is 10 years’ incarceration and/or a $250,000 fine. The charge is merely an accusation, and Crazy Bull is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.

The investigation is being conducted by the U.S. Marshal's Service, and Assistant U.S. Attorney Sarah B. Collins is prosecuting the case. Crazy Bull was remanded to the custody of the U.S. Marshal. A trial date has not yet been set.
